Default Yamaha 1997 Waverunner Issues! plus pics

Hey, New here but have been a avide reader of these forums ever since I got into the wonderful world of PWC this summer. I recently purchased my first YAMAHA waverunner, its a 1997 Wave Venture 1100 non running, Have a couple questions.

I own a 92 seadoo GTX, on the seadoo for the Crankshaft there is a Oil line feeding the crankshaft for lubricant (also goes to oil pump rotary valve), and I dont see that on my yamaha, what is lubricating the crankshaft on the yamaha (previous ownered put on a oil block off kit so I Premix) ? Just curious. does the Grease zerk by the CDI unit going to the flywheel housing just grease up the bendix inside?

Ok now onto the good stuff, when I recieved the Yamaha it was completely dead, ended up diagnosing a bad starter solenoid. Boom fixed that turns over great, But I was curious the all 3 carbs were full of gas including cylinders (its all out now, i was carful in removing the gas not to blow seals) , is this due to a bad Needle and Seat?? The carbs are sitting on my bench pending a nice cleaning. I want to refrain from having to Rebuild these suckers cause its about $100 to do all 3 !! So is the Needle and seat behind the Diaphram? tell me if Im right.

Last Question. pheewww, On my Seadoo I have done a Jet Pump service, replacing Cone O-ring and the Cone Oil. On the Yamaha i Dont see the little Allen Screw plug to fill the cone once its back on. I havent taken the cone off or anything on the jet pump for that matter, Do you service the Jet pump cone like you do on a Seadoo?? Help! i dont know what kinda service was done on this bad boy, i just wanna get it done now since i have the whole thing torn apart as it is LOL. If i do remove the cone and replace oil. what type of gear oil? how to do it? etc..

ALSO, THESE YAMAHAS ARE A PITA TO WORK ON!!! PICTURES ARE BEFORE I TACKLED THIS HOG AND IT ALL TORN APART NOW.

more pictures of work to be done if you guys wanna see more?!

1. Crankshaft it lubricated from the same oil in the fuel that lubes the pistons, so as long as you are putting 2 stroke oil in the fuel you are good to go.

2. Carbs. are Mikuni. You can see the manual and diagrams here: Mikuni American Corporation If you decide to rebuild, which is not a bad idea if they were sitting with gas in them, look here: http://www.shopsbt.com/pdfs/mikunisbn.pdf

3. Yamaha does not have an oil system for the pump like SeaDoo..........one less thing to worry about. There are some sealed bearing on the shaft that you don't have to lubricate. There should be either one or 2 zerk fittings for grease depending on the model ski you have. One will be for the intermediate housing on the drive shaft (this is similar to what the oil lubricates on your Seadoo). This fitting is usually just under the seat area behind the engine with a rubber hose going from the zerk to the housing. You put around 7 slow pumps of grease into it from a full sized grease gun each year. Some skis have a second zerk fitting that greases the idler gear on the starter.

IMO Yamaha skis are 100% easier to work on than Seadoo, but I'm only familiar with their 4 stroke models.

Thanks so much for the detailed reply! Im new to the sport but have been buying broken skis from people and fixing them up. Have fixed up a 1992 seadoo GTX (sheered woodruf key) , and 91 Js550sx (needed Rings) , and this 97 wave venture is my recent project. IM ADDICTED!!

So glad they dont, cause I hate doing my Seadoo Pump service!

It was a PITA to work in the electrical box because mine is apart of the Flywheel magneto cover on the engine. so i had to remove the tank to diagnose it. its not the Easily accessed black box that all the newer models have! kind of a stupid design by yamaha if you ask me.
