Got any recommendations for a grease gun and extension hose (I assume I'll need an extension hose?)

EDIT:

Also is this OK for spraying down the engine bay to help prevent corrosion?
Amazon Amazon

Just about any full sized grease gun will work. You can get the hose extensions to attach to the gun separately.

The silicone spray from Amazon is good for rubber and plastic stuff. For metal, I recommend one of these 3:
1. Fluid Film
2. CRC 6-56
3. Corrosion X

Fluid Film is probably the 2nd best and most cost effective, but a little hard to find. Its the one I prefer for spraying down the engine and components. It tends to stay in place and can be sprayed on anything without harm. Some guys spray it on the outside of their ski, claiming that it works better than wax and prevents water spots. I get it off Ebay. CRC 6-56 is easy to find, cheapest, but probably the least effective of the 3. Corrosion X is probably the best for actually preventing corrosion and can be sprayed on electrical components, since it is a dielectric, but its a little expensive and harder to find. I like to use it on electrical connections, and they make a heavy duty version that is great for spraying your trailer parts with, since it stays in place even after water exposure.

I will look into those, thank you. A little OT but can I use that stuff I linked on Amazon for the bellows on my boat?

I've never used the yamalube spray but according to the description I read it should be fine.

As for the fluid film, its also what I use, here are a couple of links for different places. I'll let you do the math for which is cheaper. The first link is where I ordered my first batch from last year and had no problems.

Fluid Film Rust Protection

fluid film in Business & Industrial | eBay

Also when I greased bearing/housing I took out the bolts that hold that metal plate with electric box (ECU?) on it and had extra set of hands hold it up so I wouldn't have to unhook wiring to make it easier to get to fitting. If you do this be careful. It seemed as if the bolts had loctite or something on them. It would suck to spin out those bosses in that plastic or fiber glass piece (not sure what its made of).

Good Luck

Maybe bosses is the wrong word, threads are metal inserts kinda like this. Still scary if something bad happens, I just didn't have an extension and couldn't reach.

Yea that stuff is pretty safe for everything: metal, wood, rubber, plastic, etc.. Won't hurt anything spraying it on metal, but doesn't have the corrosion protection that the other products mentioned have. I spray it on the rubber stuff inside the engine compartment.
