Exclamation 2004 FXHO Serious Oil Leak

I bought this ski new in 2004 and it has been running great. Almost have 100 hours on it. Did one oil change with an electric pump according to instructions at 50 hours. Yesterday when I was riding, the warning light came on and the oil light was flashing. I docked it and opened the oil fill cap.. completely empty! and oil was all over everything in the engine compartment. I couldn't tell where the leak was because it was everywhere :/
I added a quart of oil and did the flush sequence.. All the oil I added went directly out into the surrounding water. I'm guessing a hose came lose somewhere.
I'd like to diagnose the problem myself before I have a mechanic check it out, any suggestions??

Is the crank seal an easy fix for someone with moderate mechanical skills.
Thanks in advance.

If I never touched the oil filter do you think that it's possibly leaking oil?
Filter is original, 4 years old, under 100 hours.

Default Fixed it.

It turns out that it was the oil filter.
Wasn't leaking from the seal though.
The freakin thing rusted a hole through the side!
It's strange, most of the filter looked to be in good shape, then you,ve got a quarter sized rusty spot on the side..

Thanks again for the advice.. It's running great now.
