Default 01 xl800 keeps cranking when connected to battery??

Hello great site!
I am thinking it might be a stuck solenoid. But it cranks as soon as the cable is connected even with the lanyard off. Any thoughts? remedies? thanks in advance.

Faulty start switch? Seems to be quite common. I believe it's the white connector in front of the steering post under the front cover. Unplug it and see if it helps you find anything. Otherwise, open up the electric box and check power via brown wire to the solenoid. Seen these go bad also, probably more so.
