1997 GP 760 voltage/starting problems?
Let me first say, great site, and I did lots of searching before asking this question
The symptoms are that with a new, fully charged dry cell battery, the waverunner will start and run no problem, but randomly, about 20 minutes later, the low voltage code will flash on the dash. At this point, if you shut it off, it will not restart unless the main fuse is disconnected, then reconnected and if you let it run, it will do so flawlessly the rest of the day.
Also, not everytime, but sometimes the waverunner will turn over breifly after being shutdown with the code, and if it fires right away, then all will be fine, but if it doesnt start within one second, all power to the guage and starter is lost, and the main fuse must be disconnected and reconnected.
Furthermore, the fuse is the correct 10A fuse, there is no corrosion or evidence of tampering with the factory equipment related to the wiring, and the grounding wires (from what I can see) appear to be fine.
Ideas what im thinking is that possibly the fuse isnt the right length (if thats even possible and arcs in the holder), or possibly something else.
Also, as for trouble shooting, the terminals on the leads and the wires were cleaned of any corrosion with sandpaper and the battery was fully charged, as well as the wires being tightly secured to the battery.
I will keep searching but thought id post this and see what turns up!
Thanks for your help!
