Default 2002 XLT1200. Engine Swap..problems

I just swapped a new engine into my 1200XLT because the engine blew. Now when I finally finished my project, when I hook up the 2 battery posts it automatically starts to turn over on its own. Nothing on the dash turns on and It tries to start without even hitting the start button and the safety switch isnt even connected. Please help. Im hoping its not that my computer is fried.

I had the same problem on my 2001 XLT 1200 and found that the solenoid to engage the starter had shorted top the closed position. On my 2001 it is inside the black box on the aft wall. Just use a meter or lift a lead and that will tell yah. Hope this helps
