Since it happened while you were riding, I'd suspect a wiring problem 1st or a blown fuse. Check the fuses and look for loose wires. Disconnect the kill switch and see if you have spark. Trace the wires to the CDI and be sure all connections are tight and no corrosion.
Next step would be to check the output voltage from the stator. I can't remember the number off the top of my head (30-50 volts maybe), but just check to see if you are getting output when you crank it. If you get juice from the stator, and all wires and connections are good, then you most likely have a bad CDI.
