Default fx cruiser 2005 with dead cylinder

Hello all , I need some help. I just purchased a 2005 fx cruider ho with 65 hours on it. It is my first PWC. I took it for a test drive and it worked great. Top speed was 98 kms per hour at 10,000 rpm. I purchased it the next day. When i put it in the water for the first time after purchasing it , It was hard to start and I could smell gas. I did eventualy get it running but it seemed to not be running smooth. I drove it for about an hour and relized it would only do a max of 70 kms per hour at about 8000 rpm.
I took it home , seached on this forum and came to the conclusion that i must have fouled a spark plug. so I purchsed 4 new plugs. When I removed the 4 that were in it , I noticed one was soaked with gas, (#3 cylinder)

So I started the engine with all new plugs and it still ran like crap.
I checked for spark and it is ok. I removed the wire going to the # 3 cylinder and it runs exactly the same. So right now I know that the # 3 cylinder is not firing.

I checked th oil and it does not smell of gas.

PLease advise if you have any suggestions on what could be wrong.

Thank you...

Have you checked the ignition coil on the bad cylinder? I'd try swapping out that coil for one of the working ones and see if the problem moves with the coil.

You can get an idea with a multimeter if the coil is bad if you have a multimeter capable of accurately measuring less than 10 ohm (standard meters won't work due to internal resistance):

Hello and thanks Ernest T for your response , however , I did try that. I have a freind with a vx110 and I removed an exact coil from it and tryed it in my dead cylinder and no luck. I also removed the coil with the spark plug attached , turned out the lights in the garage , and sarted the engine and there is spark.
There is fuel because when I remove the spark plug after starting the engine , the #3 plug is soaked with gas.
I am puzzled... could it be a frigged up fuel injector. or no commpression?

Sounds like you got spark and fuel, so the only thing left to check is compression. Minimal compression should be 164 psi, and on a sound engine it is usually 185-200+ psi.

The fuel injectors do have a screen that can get debris stuck in it, so you might want to pull the injector and be sure it is clean.

How do you pull the injectors? Where is the screen located?

You have to remove the throttle bodies or at least the fuel rail and the injectors pull out. Maybe these pages from the service manual will help There is a small screen in the end of the injector. You can also test the resistance of the injector, but you may want to try swapping the bad cylinder injector for another one like you did with the ignition coils to see if the problem follows the injector:

PM me your email and I'll post a copy of the service manual for you.

Thank You !!!!!! THANK You Ernest T!!!!!

It was a plugged screen on a fuel injector.
I removed both #3 and #4 fuel injectors. Cleaned them with intake cleaner , put them back in , then dropped it in the water and it worked like a new machine.

Thank you for your help Ernest T.

I appreciate it big time.....

I would like to get that service manual from you..

Trailing.
