Default Stuck trying to remove jet pump 2003 FX140

I'm in the process of removing the jet pump/drive shaft to replace the impeller. It does not want to slide out even though I've removed the ride plate, jet nozzle, reverse gate, impeller housing. Someone told me I need to remove the 4 bolts on the bottom of craft that hold the intake duct(the metal plate between the ride plate and the intake grate). Can anyone confirm this? I know I'm close!

Yes. On the FX the intake grate and duct are separate. On other skis these 2 pieces are 1 piece. I've not done it on the FX 140, but I'd say you need to remove the intake grate, intake duct, and ride plate just to be able to get to the bolts that hold the pump unit in place.

Also note that there are a couple of dowels that sometimes get a little corroded, so you might have to tap on the unit a little to get the dowels loose.

Maybe these diagrams will help:

Thanks for the reply but the diagrams you posted are for two different tasks. One is to remove impeller grate, and the other is to remove jet. You haven't posted the second page of the jet pump removal. That page does not mention removing bolts underneath the hull. I suspect my driveshaft is frozen.

In that case, good luck. You might have to try to wedge the system apart. A slide hammer might help if you can find a purchase point. Maybe you can get some penetrating oil to slide down the shaft into the intermediate housing to help loosen it up.

The rear of the jet housing is also sealed with RTV to the transom plate. It will hold the jet unit with the bolts removed. There is one spot on the underside that allows you to put a flat blade screwdriver and pry the jet unit rearward. Be gentle, it is aluminum.
