Just bought a pair of waverunners. One runs great. One will only run 40mph. won't get over 7000rpm I changed the plugs and looked at the air filter through the rubber air intake hose on top of the air box. Any ideas on what in need to to next?

1. If it is a Deluxe or Cruiser, be sure that its not in the "Low RPM" mode. There should be a light on the dash and you hear 3 beeps when you start it. 40 mph and 7000 rpm about right where you would be in "L" mode.

2. Check the oil level with the ski hot right after you run it. If it is overfilled at all it will not run right.

3. Remove the air filter and run the ski without it to see if you get any change.
