Default 1999 Gp 1200 No Fuel

Hey All,
My Gp 1200 is not getting fuel. What I know so far, the wires coming from the gages that hooks into the fuel pump has no power. Also it keeps telling me I am out of fuel even though it has a full tank. This makes sense to me since the wires have no power. No fuel flows from the pump (on top of tank) to the fuel filter. What wires should I check to see why this has no power and could this also be cause no fuel in the lines> Thanks.

Those wires are for the fuel gauge sending unit and has nothing to do with your lack of fuel to your fuel. The fuel pump is mechical and is on the Carb assembly. Probably need a Carb rebuild and a new due gauge sender.

You probably also have a bad fuel level sensor unit for the fuel gauge. Like pwcpro said it does not pump the fuel. There is a float in the sensor that often gets stuck. You can check the sensor unit with a multimeter: It should read 757-803 ohms with the float at the bottom (empty), and 0-8 ohms with the float at the top (full tank).

Thank you, I will look into this. Not to worried about the fuel level sensor right now, more concerned about fuel pump. Do I need to rebuild all three carbs? Is it worth looking into all new carbs? ALso can I just unplug the fuel gage sender so the I don't get beeped @ all the time (just look under the hood for fuel level).

I would recommend checking all three carbs as well as a close inspection of oil lines because they are known to shrink with age and fall off. also since you will have to remove the exhaust, you should remove the cat. convertor and replece with a d-plate. Note: you can loop the wires coming from your fuel level sender and gauge will show full always and stop the low fuel alarms.
