Carbs. need to be cleaned and rebuilt on any 2 stroke engine. My father had an outboard engine that required a carb. rebuild every 2 years, or it just wouldn't run right. Your ski is way overdue. Most guys recommend doing at least a good cleaning/rebuild ever 3-4 years (even if you don't put that many hours on the engine, fuel will cause varnish to develop and that is even more so with ethanol fuels). You can get the carb. rebuild kits and do it yourself for $50 or less per carb. Its not that hard, but labor intensive, so it can be expensive to have a dealer do it.
The joy of the 4 stroke skis is that they are all fuel injected, so there are no carbs. to worry about or mess with. I've got a 4 stroke outboard on my boat now too, and I can tell you I'd never go back to a 2 stroke engine.
