I have a 2002 Yamaha xlt 800 that doesn't have much power when taking off. The RPM's will read 5000 but it will take about 10 seconds before it finally takes off and has power. It seems to gain power quicker if I feather the throttle.. It has the same feeling when turning around or when the motor is under load. Seems to run good on top end and has good power from 5500 RPM's on up. Any thoughts on what this might be and cost to repair? I am new to all of this

Cavitation? Look at the prop for dings and nicks and check the impeller clearance between the housing or wear ring.

Everything looks okay concerning the impeller. Could it be the carbs????
