I just bought a Waverunner GP1200r and can't get it to go faster than 44 mph. It has 2 lanyards, a red one which is thinner and a grey one that is thicker at the clip. Does this thing have a governer if the thinner lanyard is used like a training or child lanyard? Haven't tried the grey one yet.

The lanyards have nothing to do with the speed. I don't think there is any rpm limiter option for the GP1200. If you are only getting to 44 mph you have other problems. That ski should hit 63-64 mph at 7100 rpms. Have you checked the compression?
