Default 1300r question

I recently bought a 2007 1300r.The ski looks to be in good condition and runs great.I am happy with it till someone told me it is past half life and to get rid of it.It has 130 hours. On average it is about 30 hours a year.I know the biggest factor is how it was maintained. How many hours can I expect from this ski?

Very difficult to say, since much depends on how/where you ride..........salt water, jumping waves, lots of air time hitting the rev limiter, etc. Most 2 strokes will begin to show needs for a top end rebuild at 200 hours or before, but I have a friend that has a 1200 with just over 300 hours (his is the rare exception).

Even if you do have to do a top end, it's cheaper than buying a new machine.

Unhappy so soon

wow done at approx 200 hours.I thought 400 or so.When you say top end rebuild I guess you mean piston rings. The 2007 engine has ceramic plated cylinders. Can they be honed? From what you say I might dump this thing before it becomes a money pit.I am shocked it has such a short life.many thanks for the info.

200 hours is average but I had a SeaDoo once with well over 600 hours on original everything. So it just depends on many factors. A top end job at an independent shop should run no more than $1400. Interesting how people get so worried about rebuilding a 2 stroke so they run off and buy a new $13k four stroke only to lose $2k as soon as they roll off the dealer lot.

Don't get me wrong the new powerhouse machines are great but if you're buying one to save money you are indulging in false logic.
