Default 01 xl800 rebuild

Hey guys....i just picked up a 01 xl800 and my oil lines came off the carbs and killed the #2 cylinder and piston. I wanna upgrade the head and exhaust and try and tweak this thing out while im rebuilding it but i cant find any performance parts for the engine
Any suggestions?

My 2 cents: The 800 cc Yamaha engines are not the greatest to modify. There were enough problems with them without modifications, and I've heard guys say that the design is already pushed past its capacity. I think that is one reason you don't see aftermarket kits for them. What you might want to consider is dropping a larger engine into your hull like a 1200.

I see. I dont think i wanna go that far yet with my first ski yet. Ive dont plenty of car engine swaps, but ill keep this one normal for now. Think im gonna do the wave plate ,grate and seal the intake. From what i hear, that will help it a bit.
Also when i dug into the ski i found the power valve servo was unplugged and zip tied to the top of the hull where the two plugs could not reach eachother. I plugged it back in and it seems to be working ok and the power valves are not broken.
Could be the reason i couldnt get the ski past 35mph. Any way i can test the system and be sure the servo and and control box are ok

Yea, you will lose a lot of top end power if the powervalves are not working.
