I am in the process of swapping in a motor into my 05 FX HO. I am trying to install the exhaust pipe (No. 12 in the attached pic).

What is the sequence required when installing this pipe? The engine is in the hull and bolted down. I currently have the tail end of the pipe clamped to its union at the bottom and I am wrestling with the big end with the inner and outer clamps.

Are there any tips or secrets to getting this pipe installed?

According to the service manual, you basically start at the ends (parts #18 and #14) and work toward the middle. There is nothing specific in the manual about getting it together.

Just had to walk away for a couple of days. When I went back to work on the ski, the pipe "fell on". Literally had it bolted up and clamps tightened with 10 minutes!
