Default 2001 yamaha waverrunner xlt- RAN OUT OF GAS, PUT SOME MORE IN NOW LOSS OF POWER? HEL

so i just bought 2 jetskis , 2000 and 20001. when we wont on the test ride both ran great but the 20001 xlt had the fuel light on and when i jumped on that it ran great and then cutting out from gas not getting delivered so i had to coast back to the trailer, but i bought them cause they did run great

so now i put in 30 bucks and went to take out the one that ran out of gas and it only does about 33mph top speed instead of the 55-58mph i was seeing on the lake??!?!?

anyone know what i could do or it could be thats the problem. feels like the motor is running good and starts right up. there was a second where some thick smoke came out for it was white and when starting it after stop. but its just lost its power.

i got new plugs, and i found a fuel filter.... but anything else so i can just get it done before i go all the way to lake again? i just bought these to flip so need to get them working asap befor a buyer shows up to test ride it

Could be many things. I would start with a compression check. each cylinder should have 120 psi or close to that. When you run a triple carb 2 stroke out of fuel, especially at high speeds, it cant distribute enough fuel to each cylinder may cause failure on one or more cylinders.

Sounds just like the problems I was having with our first 2 jetskis....Kawasaki Ultra 150s. The engines had to be rebuilt on both of them. Blowby...piston rings were worn down...no compression. I took off the air intake manifold and sprayed ether directly into the carbs to start the Kawasakis. It was primitive but it worked.
Did u check the fuel filter...r u sure ur getting gas into the cylinders????
