Default Help with GP800

I have a 1999 gp800 waverunner, and the plastic intake cover on the right side of the motor was broken off from use. The ski was tipped a bit, but not flipped while the cover was off. Some water must have gotten in the engine, becuase it would not start after that. So i have dried out the cylinders, and put some solvent in to dry out, and replaced the spark plugs. Trying to start it now, it just chugs but wont fire. I have poured some gas in the cylinders and still nothing. Now I am at a loss, any idea on what my next step should be. Thanks in advance.

Check your fuel to make sure no water has gotten into system. if your fuel valve was on when you were flushing water out you may have flooded engine with fuel. hold throttle open spray starting fluid into cylynders replace plugs and try starting that way

Thanks for your reply. I did put some fuel treatment in the tank afterwards, incase water got in there. Could this still be an issue? I have to get some starting fluid, Ill let you know if that works.

Alirght so Im still having no luck with the starting fluid. I do notice some oily residue on the new plugs, Im guessing the carb will need to be cleaned correct?

If you have spark, then pull the plugs and and groudn them. Turn the fuel cock off. Turn the engine over 3 times or so for about 10 seconds. It may have water or excess fuel in the cylinders or crank. Reinstall plugs and turn fuel on. Give a shot of starter fluid in the intake. open throttle then give a start.

If you dont have spark then none of the above will help.
