Lightbulb Jet ski for Towing a Hovercraft

Hello Everyone,

I am sujit. I would like to get some suggestions on using a Jetski for towing our hovercraft if the need arises as a quick response backup plan. I am a novice when it comes jet ski's but been a boating & sailing enthusiast following & reading material.

Hovercraft specs

Length : 20 Feet

Width : 8 Feet

Weight (Dry): 900 Kgs

Weight : 1500 Kgs
(Fully Loaded)

The hovercraft is operated at sea. I need some help regarding the usage of a jet ski to tow the loaded hovercraft in the event of stalling . I am not sure if there are purpose built towing jetski's available or about the onboard rigging set up to tow a craft of the above mentioned dimensions.

Can someone throw some light on using a jetski for the above purpose in a safe manner & considering the sea conditions ,Chop, wind etc how good is the solution for Towing purpose.

Thank You & have nice day.

Pwc's are not designed for that. On calm water you MIGHT be able to get away with it, but at sea, no way. The hull at the tow loops MIGHT (and that's a big if, the hull is not thick enough for that much stress. The transom is not thick like it is on a boat.), handle the weight, but a pwc is just to small to safely be put in that kind of situation, especially with that kind of weight.

basically Pwc's are not designed for this purpose which you mentioned but its not mean we can't do I would suggest taking an expert opinion on this, there are some videos on youtube they explained everything in a detailed so you can also check that, being a towing truck driver of Long Distance Towing services, i haven't experienced this scenario.
