Nyman Dock Shuttle Hoist - PWC Lift

Hello all from Saint Joseph Michigan

I bought a used Nyman PWC lift "Nyman Dock Shuttle Hoist".
They seem to have gone out of business.

I'd like to know how the locking mechanism works. This has a big wheel, and works foine up and down, but I see nothing to lock it in the up position.

Anybody know anything about this thing? Did some other outfit buy them? Is there a parts breakdown for the cable mechanism?

Help?

Thanks
Fred

Basically there are two types of hoist winch stops a frition clutch, and a sprag latch. See pics of both. Sprag first in pics then clutch.
The sprag can be opened lifted out of the way to allow it to be let down. The clutch you just wind it up or down and the clutch will stop it from free wheeling down on its own.
Post a pic of what you have and maybe I can tell what's wrong.

I'll have to go to the storage unit tomorrow, nut definitely like the pic on the right.

One small gear drives the large cable drum gear. There is another gear that has a stop pawl on it, nothing you can reach with the cover on. That gear spins freely on the shaft either way if you move the pawl out of the way. It does not seem to be connected to anything.

Thanks so much for responding! I'll get pics of what I have tomorrow.

I went to take pics of it. and with the way the thing was positioned, one side of the winch was facing down. Low and behold, on the down-facing side, in big stamped letters - it's a DLB 1200 winch. I bought a brand new one for 95 bucks on ebay.
Again, thanks for your help!
