Kawasaki 1100 oil pump help

Hello- I just bought a 96 Kawasaki 1100. I was told it needed an oil pump bearing. Well I got the engine out and the struggle began. There’s a shaft looking part that goes through the bearing (damper assembly I believe). Well that’s missing. I can’t find just the shaft. Any ideas? I’ll block off the oil pump but it seems like that part is still needed. Thank you!!

You wont find it seperately. The part number is for the assembly which is the bearings and shaft. I have seen a few on ebay.

Thanks! And I do need the part even if I block the oil pump. Correct?

Yes, if you use the factory cover. You can get a aftermarket billet cover that deletes the cooling lines and pump drive. I don't recommend removing the pump. They are very reliable. It's the lines to the carbs that need attention.

Looks like it's been submerged before. I would do a compression check.

All the dirt and crap in the stator cover.

Wouldn’t surprise me. I’ll probably sell it instead of buying the part. Oh well

Is it a zxi or stx ? If the hull is in good shape, it's worth opening the engine up and checking things out, or just freshening it up, along with some other things while it's out.
