Lightbulb Broken tap in jetdrive

Hello All-

I just purchased a new-to-me project jetski. It's a 95 GTS.

The prior owner had the jetdrive removed to repair (something). While inspecting the pieces (in the handy bucket they were delivered in!) I come to see that there is a tap broken off in the aluminum drive housing. Naturally it snapped inside the hole. Excellent!

I am planning on using the hot alum soak trick to dissolve the tap inside the aluminum housing. Can anyone tell me why this would be a bad idea? My thought is to submerge only the corner of the jetdrive with the tap in it in the alum solution. Should I tear down the rest of the jetdrive (e..g, remove the impeller etc) first just for safety sake?
