'02 GTX DI - Bad MPEM

Hi All, I recently acquired an '02 GTX DI on the cheap as it had some known issues and the current owner was tired of dealing with it.

Came to me reportedly with a faulty TPS. Took those off and both tested fine - hooked up a candoo and no active faults(though showed previous tps related faults).

The next day I took it out to run it and the battery was dead flat. Replaced battery and she started up and appeared to run okay, but soon complained about a very low 12v supply.

Debugging showed that when off, there was about a 1.3 amp draw from the battery. I found that the mag side fuel injector was almost always clicking on and staying on when the battery was connected. Removing the AMP #4 connector, the injector would turn back off. Checked between the appropriate pins on the AMP side and the FI connector and found no indication of a short to ground. When the AMP connector was plugged in, I could get a momentary connection to ground from the negative side of the FI connector.

Additional tests conducted:
Fuses all good
Checked stator(appropriate resistance and no shorts to ground)
General condition of ground mounting points good

I am seeing resistance a little high on the FI(2.1 ohms on both at the FI itself, 2.4-2.5 through the harness).

Anyhow from all this I believe that the ground switching relay for the mag FI is faulty inside the MPEM. But before I drop another $300-400 on an MPEM, I wanted to get some second opinions and make sure I wasn't overlooking anything else.

An update.

MPEM did not fix the problem. Determined that the fuel injector itself was faulty, and was shorting to ground through itself. I replaced the FI and it started right up.

Then I got it on the water and it rode great.....it sat in the water for maybe 45 minutes and when I got back to it, the hull was flooded. Got it out of the water and water was pouring out of the right side OPAS. Finally got it apart tonight and the seal tube had a gash in it.

I have gotten the ski to start briefly since it flooded but haven't had it hooked up to water yet to really run it.
