Make sure you have a new battery in before you do anything. You could do all this work and it could just be the batt. An old battery might have volts but no load. Try shorting the solenoid once you do that again. If no good, theres only 2 x 12mm bolts holding the starter motor on. You may have to remove the exhaust to get at it though. If you have to get it out, make sure you know how to clean out a starter motor and mark it properly.
