I bought a 1996 waveraider 1100 that needed to be put together. The oil pump that was on it was cracked at the mounting flange. I bought another oil pump and installed it and started the engine. the oil pump cracked again.
what is going on?
I know the flywheel bolt is turning and the pump was in the slot when I installed it.
I do not know what else to check
I need help
Thanks

If you haven't already addressed the problem, the best solution would be to get a oil pump block off kit and eliminate it and the chance of oil pump failure all together. I lost a cylinder on my 1100 when one of the brass oiler tubes came out of the pump. It doesn't take but a minute without oil and your engine is toast. Just and little more hassle to premix oil and gas but worth knowing that oil starvation isn't going to ruin your fun.

I am with BamaDave on this, go premix. The block-off kit costs about $12 and it takes no time at all to do, then just premix your system at the right ratio and never worry again about your oil pump failing!!
