2001 1100 stx di only idles

I just put a used engine in my ski and now it will only idle. The first time it started, it idled around 2500-3000 rpm. Now it idles normally, but it won't accelerate. I was wondering if i should have put new reed valves in? I re-used the old ones since they only had 50 hrs on them.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
