Hi there,
am looking to purchase a very tidy, clean with low hours (53) XLT1200 tomrrow up here in Seattle.
As I am real new to this, does this seem like a good buy? I'm paying $3700 for it including a galvanized trailer.
Also as it's a 2 stroke is there anywhere, or any state that it cannot be used in due to the emissions? Also are these things from anyones knowledge likely to be made illegal at any time soon?
I've searched high and low for info on this but with little success.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Kiwi..

I don't think you have to worry about 2 strokes being outlawed (California may be an exception). However, I've noticed some lakes being more restrictive with 2 stroke outboard engines on boats. Most manufacturers have moved to 4 stroke production and are dropping their 2 stroke line altogether both for outboard engines and skis. Yamaha is one example.

In that same light the XLT1200 you are looking at is probably a good ski that will give you a good ride, and last a while, but if I were in the market for a new ski and willing to part with $4-6K, I'd recommend looking at a used 4 stroke.
