I was out riding my XLT1200 yesturday and about 1/2 way thru the day the steering started to stiffen up. It still worked but was just harder to move. We were on a river and while beached some waves rocked it up a little high in the sand and pushed the back end up some on the sand. I pulled it back and did not start it till I was in 4' of water again. After pulling out for the day I looked at it and did not notice anything out of place. (I am new with PWC's). Can you lube the cables, or anything elso I can look at?
What I can tell you is that its not in the cables. It is the steering column. If you take off the plastic covering on the handlebars and put some lube in the column it helps a little. If you find any other way to fix it could you message me? Thanks,

After putting marine grease on each side of the cable before each use the steering loosened up again and is now running well. I did not check the colmn bu I will try adjusting and lubing that too.
