So, I have a 2008 GTX, bought second hand. The wear ring was replaced about 2 years ago when I bought it (ski was cavitating badly and had very poor power, but decent high end speed around 53mph.

After replacing it, we have put about 50 hours on the ski, no known clogs/stuff sucked into the jet, basically running well good power and top speed (56 mph).

I just took the pump assembly off to fix an infernal OPAS sealed tube leak. I see three pretty deep grooves/wear areas in the ring. Is this a sign of an alignment problem or something else? I am a pretty newbie mechanic on these machines and don't know where to go from here.

That looks like where something in the past got picked up like a rock or something. That wear amount didn't look detrimental. Though it is somewhat hard to tell via a Pic. I would inspect the jet vanes and if they aren't nicked badly and show no other serious wear, I'd throw her back in there. I would also check to make sure your jet prop isn't wiggling side to side, or otherwise floppy on the bearing. It should spin freely, and shouldn't allow you to wobble it in/out or side to side. Just my two cents. I've had skis in the past with much worse looking wear rings than what you seem to have, and that for all around use were still performing well enough.

Thanks, for the feedback. The jet pump and the impeller both seem solid (not wobbly) and spins freely. I'll put it back in the water in the spring and see how it goes, especially now that it hopefully won't try to sink anymore :)
