since my yamaha dealer was closed monday i changed my oil with mobil1 10w-40. was this a bad idea and can screw up the pwc or can i wait until my next oil change to swich back to yamalube? im new to this whole pwc thing and only ran it for 10 mins to make sure it ran after i took it out of the garage for the summer.

There are lots of guys that run the mobile1 oil with no problems, but most cut the manufactures recommended change interval in half (every 50 hours). There may still be reasons not to use it. Since it is not FC-W certified, it will void your warranty if the ski is still under one. And since it is not FC-W certified, it may not have the additional additives that are recommended for marine engines to prevent corrosion.

Its not going to hurt anything for the short term. You may want to consider switching back to Yamalube next time or if you want to go synthetic, look for a FC-W certified oil. If you ski is out of warranty, and you stay with Mobile1, I'd recommend more frequent oil changes.
