2009 Yamaha FX HO oil leak

1325 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  cainkidd
Oil was pooling under the battery. Dealer said it was the flange on the oil cooler. Repaired, lasted for 13 months and started again. Would like to repair myself. Could not locate on You Tube. Any ideas?
Thank you,
Bob

Flange?? Leaking oil? I can show you the oil lines on mine (2002 Yamaha FX140). My first guess would be the oil hose on the lower back rear face of the engine. It is in this video. It is under the coupling.

You may already know this but the oil level needs to just barely touch the dip stick when the engine is cold. If it is higher on the dip stick it will blow out and into the air-box. The big black box on top of the engine. It could then find its way to beneath the battery
