2021 VX Cruiser HO Recall

What's your experience with the recall for the cracked fuel filler port on the hull? I made the mistake of buying my skis from a dealer who wants to charge me $100 to come pick them up for the recall fix. No Yamaha dealers on the lake that I know of (Smith Mountain Lake Virginia). They are in slips in a marina that sells SeaDoo....no warranty work on Waverunners. It's my understanding the cracking occurs if you hang the gas nozzle in the port, i.e., if you abuse it. What are others experiencing?

I am like you on a lake not near any Yamaha dealer. I’m not planning on doing the recap and fill it carefully using a siphoned hose from a gas tank on the dock when it’s in the lift.
Interested in anyone who has done the recall.

I had this recall repair done on my VXC's, and I regret it. Since the repair was done, fuel backs-up and overflows the filler while the skis are being fueled up. You can only run the nozzle very-very slowly to get any gas into them at all. In general, I would avoid this repair if I had it all to do over again.

I've had very little issues with the 2022 updated filler assembly, maybe the occasional backup on a fast pump, but in my experience most pumps are not fast enough. If look down the fuel fill you will see a protrusion that is the vent, if you are rough while filling and putting excessive side load on the pump nozzle you could crack this vent protrusion and potentially fill your bilge with fuel.

Here's the view down the filler after the upgrade. There is no protrusion that I can see. I read elsewhere that the vent was not included in the updated design. I wish I had a photo of the before.
