Hey guys, Im new to working on jet skis and just recently got this nice 85 JS550.

It will start sometimes but when it runs, if you wait too long after shutting it off, it wont start back up. I think there is too much gas getting in the carb.

To lower the gas input, do you turn the screw to the right or left?

Also, what is the difference between the two different...jet screw I guess? the two screws on the carb that I was told to adjust. I have no idea what to do. Any tips would be a help :) God bless!!

Not sure which screws you are asking about
I have the Factory shop manuals for the JS440 and JS550 machines
Happy to scan in a page or two if it would be of any help
PS- I am selling my skies and the trailer

Thanks, I have a Mikuni BN round body carb. well thats the only name we could find for the description of it. it has two screrws. one on front and back of the fuel pump that I was told adjusts the gas intake when the ski is running.

Now I can only get gas to the carb from the primer. No gas is running through the fuel pump so I guess I need to take it apart again and check everything. I really appreciate the help and a buddy of mine is gonna grab me a repair manual.

Thanks so much for your help. God bless :)
