I have a '89 650 kawasaki sx that has been shocking me while I've been riding. I have noticed there are the heads of screws showing on the outsides of the handle bars, which must be where the current is coming from because I have rubber grips. I can't figure out why I'm getting shocked and its making riding it annoying. Has anyone else had this problem or know what to do to fix it?

Thanks,
Phil from Michigan

I've been riding my 89 since I bought it in 92 and never had anything like that happen.

Nobody I have talked to have either.

I would suggest that you start with checking your ground leads from the battery to the block, and the block to the e-box.

It could also be a wire on the stop start switch has been pinched or worn through and is energizing the handlebars???

It sounds like a simple fix.

Did you ever figure out what was causing your shocking experiance? This just happened to my last night. I was out riding my 89' 650, did a few subs and next thing you know when I get on it, I am getting a pulsing load into my right arm.

I hope to look at it tonight.
