I am a newbie who has never owned a jet ski but am looking for one or perhaps 2. Lately I have been cruising Craigslist for used and come across an ad for two 2001 800GPRs, each with less than 100 hours.
The problem is, one of the skis with only 76 hours needed its crankshaft replaced. This seems like too major a problem for a ski with that few of hours. Do waverunners of this vintage have a reputation of having problems in this area? If not, what kind of expense is it to replace the crankshaft? Could someone with reasonable mechanical skills do it?
Thanks,
Dave in NC
