Hello I have an 97 Wave Raider with no spark. I have been metering things out and I ran into somthing strange to me (might be the problem).

I measured the ignition coil primary (from black to orange) and I read .1 ohm which is in spec. I measured the secondary (from plug lead to the black wire) and it reads completely open. I assume this is the correct way to measure the secondary coil.

Before I go buy a coil; can anyone confirm I am checking this correctly?

I can't count how many time someone has accused the ignition coil to be faulty and it almost everytime turns out to be something else.

Between High Tension Leads

I have been doing some measurements of coils around the shop and found that some are measured between the two high tension leads. If this is the correct way to measue this coil, I think I still have a bad coil.
It measures 5M ohms and the service data sheet says it should be 3.5-4.7 ohms. I am assuming there's a typo and it should be 3.5k-4.7k ohms.

Either way 5 megaohms is way too much. Maybe the high tension leads are corroded inside.

Anything any of you can offer to confirm my findings would be very helpful.

Thanks
