I was curious if anyone else out there can tell me what the top speed is on their 1200XL. Mine indicates a top speed of 48 at approximately 6800 rpm with full throttle. This is the speed shown on the waverunner itself and not backed up by a gps. That's with me alone in calm water and I'm about a 185 pound lad. Thanks.

They are supposed to run 56-57 at around 7050-7100 rpm. First I'd check your speed with a gps, cause the onboard speed-O can be off up to 5 mph. Second, because you are not reaching max rpms, I would expect you to see a speed loss. That last 200-300 rpms can easily account for 5+ mph. Check your compression. It may be time for a top end rebuild. Also check the pump, you may need a new wear ring.
