98 GP760 burning too much oil?

Trying to get my ski back in the water to test out the washer fix on the rideplate. When I start it onland w/ the hose hooked up, it is burning waaay to much oil. Usually smokes a bit on startup, then cleans up. It isn't stopping now though. Oil slicks all over the ground from it, and the exhaust is getting nasty.

I dont premix, and don't really want to convert due to hassel of premixing. Is there a way to adjust the amount of oil sent from the oil pump to the engine, and if so, how do I do so properly?
