AWA Alert: Westborough, MA.

At 7 p.m. on Monday October 22, the Town of Westborough will hold a town meeting at the high school to decide whether or not to ban PWC on Lake Chauncy.

It’s yet again, another gross failure by the local authorities to enforce already existing law.

Instead of doing their duty by enforcing current laws against drinking, reckless operation and littering, Town officials are opting for the simplistic and intolerant measure of prohibiting lawful PWC owners from public waters.

If you live in Westborough, you have a vote at the town meeting! If you know any riders on Lake Chauncy, urge them to attend and vote. Please attend the Town Meeting on October 22, 2007 and demand that current laws are enforced and freedom of access is preserved.

We had the same thing happen in Liberty ME. on Lake St. George a few years back. Instead of demanding the state enforce current law a majority of townsfolk voted to ban PWC's on their lake. A property owner that owned a PWC purposely was ticketed for illegal operation and fought it in court. Two days ago the ticket was thrown out of Superior Court and the Judge stated that the law was unduly arbitrary.
