The link he gave for the CDI is no good anymore. Is this the same one?
I want to try it on my 88WR500 They are saying there AC and DC CDIs and I wanted to make sure what my WR uses.
Also, does the lack of a magneto connection mean the battery will not charge?

you will need to use the AC cdi, so the one in the link looks correct.
The wires that come from the stator to charge your battery are the two green ones that go into the voltage regulator, those don’t get cut or anything, just leave them as they are and your charging system won’t be affected.

Hey Guys, I have a 1988 yamaha waverunner wr500G. I recently did a complete engine rebuild. When trying to start it afterwards, my starter would turn but my engine wouldn't turn over. I have strong spark so that is not an issue. I thought this might be a timing issue because after attempting to start two or three times the cylinders became hard for the starter to turn almost as if it had built up to much pressure and once I removed the plugs it was fine. Now I came across this forum and replaced the cdi with the GY6 I have no spark. PLEASE HELP!!!!
