I just recently bought a 2001 GP800R and a 2002 FX 140.

How often should I flush the engine? I know this is typically to wash dirt out of the engine that may have been sucked in or other unwanted particles, but what is a good frequency?

Also, what is the appropriate sequence, for instance I believe it is this:

1.) Attach water hose with nozzle adapter.
2.) Turn water on.
3.) start jet ski.
4.) turn off water after about 30 seconds.
5.)cut engine off around 5 seconds after that.

Is this the right sequence and am I missing anything in between? I know I can ruin an engine if I do not do it correctly so I'd like to be 100% sure.
