I asked this question in the "aftermarket/performance" area but no response. Hopefully a Yamaha pro can care.

-All stock machine 2001 Yamaha XL800
-new plugs gapped at .028
-90 octane fuel, reg 2 cycle oil (not synthetic blend)

Do the Free Flow Exhaust systems help or not?

My XL800 seems to be slugish on the start with riders. Or could that be cavitation? New to Waverunners, been boating all my life.

Thanks

Thanks
Steve

Free flow exhausts only make them louder. Theres no performance benefit on a relatively stock motor. XL800s a renound for cavitation because of their pitch prob. I would get a new solas impeller and seal the pump shoe. That will make it 10 times better out of the hole.

thats correct. solas impeller. possibly a 12/15 if there is one. I cant remember what i used to put in those things but it was a slightly bigger pitch
