I have a 97 Monte Carlo 1000.
It turns over fine but won't start.
It also seems to be noisier than usual when it turns over.
How can I tell if it needs to be rebuilt?
Where can I get a rebuild manual?
Thanks,
AC

Things checked.

I checked the compression.
Cyl #1 120
Cyl #2 110
Cyl #3 105

I used an inductive timing light to check the spark, all are ok.

The plugs (NGK BR9EYA) are black and wet.

No problem with cranking.

I did not winterize the fuel or the jetski. It was stored indoors all winter.

add around a tea spoon of mixing oil into your clys one at a time and do compression check with the oil in the cyl and see if your numbers go up. 105 is low oh plus make sure u have a full battery.

Rechecked compression

i did as you suggested and added oil to each cylinder. I also took out
all 3 plugs .
New readings.
Cyl #1 185
Cyl #2 185
Cyl #3 170

I put a jump pack on the battery and I got it to start.
Smoked like crazy (I assume it is from the extra oil used during the compression test)
Now it has a rattle at the pto, sounds like it might be the shaft/spline assembly.
Also on the last use last year it would take off fine under light throttle but more throttle made it rattle and bog down.

Will 'eating weeds' cause problems with the shaft spline?

Thanks,
AC

it could but it will really clog up your pump. um if you can warm up the ski for like 15 mins and do another compression check cuz 120 110 and 105 dry then wet 185 185 170 wet thats like 60 to 70 more psi your getting wet. just warm up the motor so the piston rings can expand and see what your new numbers are... are you running premix?
