I'm looking to purchase a new 2010 or 2011 VX Deluxe from my local dealer. The MSRP for each respectively is $8699 and $8999 respectively per the Yamaha website. The dealer told me the 2010 could be had for $7900. I have no idea if this is a good price or not, and I need your help. What should I expect to pay on the 2010 and the 2011?

Thanks for your help!

$7900 sounds good for the 2010, if they don't try to stick on a bunch of extra charges. There would be no advantage in getting a 2011, since the skis are identical (maybe some color choice differences), so I'd stay with a 2010. Prices really vary depending on what part of the country you are in, and how much competition the dealers have. At a boat show this year I saw a left over new 2009 VX Cruiser plus a trailer sale for $7300. My advice is to shop all the Yamaha dealers within a reasonable distance to get the best deal. Best deal that I have seen on a 2011 VX Deluxe locally was $8350 out the door price, except for sales tax, but that was 2 months ago at a boat show (and that included, I think something like $500 worth of free accessories).

If you really want to save some $$$ look for a used ski. The VX is very popular and you can find lightly used ones with low hours in the 2006-2008 model years for as little as $4500-5000 plus a trailer.
