Kawi Ultra 130 shuts down

I just purchased a 01 Ultra 130, when it runs it runs like a bullet. The problem is that someitme it acts as if there is an electrical short. Starting sometimes and sometimes not or will idle until you give it gas and the die. Also when runing at any speed all of a suden it will act as if the eginition was turned off and shows a battery error on the screen. The batter is new and changed. It is getting plenty of fuel. Any help would be appreciated.
