1996 Sea Doo GTX / 657 Rotax with trailer

Seller knows absolutely nothing about history and is being sold As Is. I have looked it over and no fiberglass damage, seat and covers dull but not broken, engine compartment no oil or water, pump looks good from inside & back, steering works, throttle works, battery dead

1. Is this a good model of Jet Ski to buy
2. How much should top offer be thinking $100 to $400

Thanks, Jim

Not knowing anything about it, 200 max. You can get in real deep real quick if the engine needs rebuilding. The older Seadoo's are pretty good ski', and very stable (except the XP).

I have to agree. The low retail is $1,330 with trailer and the cost of a rebuilt motor is $700.

If I don't buy this any ideas on early 1990's Sea Doo or Yamaha models to look for?

All depends on what your looking to do. If you want small and fast, the sp, spi, spx xp, and Kawi ss/xi, single rider ski's, unstable at low speeds. Gsi and GSX are good mid size. full size is gts, gtx, gts. Anything Seadoo with the carbed 951 engine is really good, but most engine are reliable if maintained. Uses reed valves instead of the rotory valve. Most anything yamaha. Wave jammer and Wave raiders are small single rider designs. Rated as 2, but really just 1. Wave runner 3 and VXR are good little skis. WR3 is a 650 and the vxr is a 701 I believe, Gp 760,1200 good mid size. If you want a big cruiser, the wave venture 1100 or 760. Kawi has the st, sts, and stx 750, stx 900 and 1100, all good 3 seater ski's. Kawi has the Zxi 750,900,1100. Good fast mid size, but single rider ski's.

Again thank you for your input. I went yesterday before the auction and purchased from the owner $300 and will pick it up today. Engine turned over by hand so wish me luck.

To be honest, I have never visited car auctions and I do not understand how you can spend so much money in order to buy some kind of old car. This is just silly. It is much better to buy some expensive painting. I often spend time in auctions and it is very interesting for me to buy different paintings. I just love art and I think it's very cool and interesting. So I prefer spending money on antique auction houses to get cool art. Don't criticize me because this is my personal opinion.
