I was having problems with my 2003 Yamaha 800XLT, Low power and stopping abruptly at high rpm. Seemed to idle OK though. Took off the exhaust manifold and the oil line to the back carb had become disconnected. Suspect a dry seize so checked compression cold & dry. 120psi front cyl, 95psi rear cylinder. Added 1 tsp of 2 stroke oil to both cylinders and they both read 120psi.

How screwed up is it? Do I just run a little extra oil (premix from now on), run for a few hours and see if there is any change to the compression? or tackle a top end rebuild.

Engine has 181 hours. Would be interested in opinions.
