picked up an 89 waverunner last weekend and put in the water today. The problem was not enough speed to plane out of the water or throttle out of a turn. I'm thinking the carb. might need a good cleaning and rebuild. Hopfully you guys might be able to help me out, and maybe save me some work if its not the carb. thanks alot.

Just took my 89 apart last week. It was pretty easy to do. Just work slowly and keep the parts in order on a clean work table. That way you can put it back together easily. I stripped back a piece of automotive wire (the kind with lots of small copper wires strung together) and used 2 strands twisted together to clean out some of the small passages.

Are the RPms coming up at all? Could check the high and low speed screw settings. Not sure what they are supposed to be but you could probably find them by searching around. Check your jet pump too.
