Pulling what's left of my hair out I have a 1995 tigershark will start and idle but when you put it in the water and start to squeeze the throttle it dies. Starts right back up but dies everytime I give it gas. Any specialists out there?

Not saying i’m a specialist at all, but if you get decent throttle response out of water(no load) and dies in water giving it throttle (which puts engine under load) then test cylinder compressions. Don’t forget to have plugs attached to wires and grounded to cylinder head when performing test so you don’t kill your cdi. Not sure if yours is more than one carb. Out of sync carbs have done that also to my snowmobiles.

Sorry for my lack of comprehension, sounds more like the high speed mixture screw on carb(s) as issue. I have manual w/ settings if you need screw turn settings. Just depends on what motor were dealing with.

I have a 1998 ts770l I am having to use the choke to allow the ski to run at top speed if you try without the choke it stalls. What are the carb highspeed turn settings? I rebuilt the carb of the ski I just purchased “non running” the jets were all the way in so I left them like that.

Well, not sure if you have the original 38’s so there are differences per year and model of 770’s duallys. With that being said personally i would adjust 1 turn out and launch with seat off. Calmer waters helped me in past then adjust if needed for overall good throttle response. I would think 1 turn for high and low should be within 1/4 turn of the sweetspot. Let me know if i helped you. In water under load and not on hose is best.

Well hopefully someone else can chime in also. I’ve worked on all 4 engine sizes now,but the 770’s i tackeled all had fixed highspeed settings. The ones that have adjustable my friends and other guys that messed with sharks said they always had highspeed turned at least 5/8 out from lightly seated. They said they usually end up (around) the 1full turn.
